About Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan’s full name is Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan. He is an Indian film Actor, Producer and Director. He is considered as one of the most influential film personality in Bollywood. During his film carrier, he received many awards including seven Filmfare Awards and four National Film Awards. He also received Padma Shree and Padma Bhushan Award in 2003 and 2010 respectively from Government of India.
Aamir Khan was born on 14th March 1965 in Mumbai, Maharastra, India. His father late Tahir Hussain was a film producer and mother Zeenat Hussain is a home maker. Many member of his family is related to the film industry including late Nasir Hussain who was his paternal uncle and a producer director in Hindi film industry. His brother Faisal Khan and nephew Imran Khan both are actor in Hindi film industry.
He married to Reena Dutta on 18th April 1986. They have one son and one daughter. Son is named as Junaid and daughter as Ira. In December 2002 they filed for divorce and Reena took custody of both the children.
On 28th December 2005, Aamir Khan married to Kiran Rao. Kiran Rao assisted to Ashutosh Gowariker while filming Lagaan which was produced by his production company Aamir Khan Productions. They announced the birth of their son Azad Rao Khan on 5th December 2011 through a surrogate mother.
Although Aamir Khan formally started his acting carrier since 1984, he first appeared in Yaadon Ki Baaraat directed by his uncle Nasir Hussain as a child actor. The film was released in 1973. While working as an assistant director to Nasir Hussain, Khan acted in a documentary film which was directed by FTII Pune in the year 1984. He noticed by director Ketan Mehta for his role in the documentary and Ketan Mehta offered him a role in his experimental film Holi. The film was based on the ragging in Colleges. The film didn’t perform well but Nasir Hussain and his son Mansoor signed him for Mansoor Hussain’s directorial debut Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak as the leading man. The film was based on Shakespearean tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. The film also features Juhi Chowla as leading lady. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was released in 1988 and became a major commercial success.
In the year 2001, Aamir Khan setup his production company named as Aamir Khan Productions. He produced his first movie Lagaan in 2001. He himself acted in the movie Lagaan as the lead actor. Lagaan was selected as India’s official entry to 74th Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film Category. The film has also won many awards. He produced another iconic film Taare Zameen Par in 2007. It also marked as his directorial debut. The film was critically acclaimed and also became commercial success. He also won best director award for this movie.
Aamir Khan made his television debut with his talk show Satyamev Jayate. The show started airing on 6th May 2012 and dealt with social issues. He was paid 30 million INR for hosting Satyamev Jayate for each episode and made him highest paid host in Indian television industry. The show was aired by Star Plus, Star World and Doordarshan simultaneously.
