About Jacqueline Fernandez
Jacqueline Fernandez is a Sri Lankan model and actress born on 11th August 1985 in Manama, Bahrain. Her father Elroy hails from Sri Lanka and mother Kim of Malaysian descent. She completed her schooling from Bahrain and later received a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Sydney in Australia.
In 1999, when she was merely 14 years old, she hosted few television shows in Bahrain. After completion of her graduation, Fernandez worked as a television reporter in Sri Lanka.
Jacqueline Fernandez started her career as a television reporter in her early days. While she was a reporter, she received an offer for modeling from few modeling agencies which later landed her in beauty pageant contests. In 2006, Fernandez participated and won Miss Universe Sri Lanka pageant contest. Later in the same year, she also represented her country in Miss Universe 2006 pageant contest which was held in Los Angeles.
In the year 2009, Fernandez traveled India for some modeling assignment. During her stay in India, she successfully auditioned for a fantasy film named Aladin directed by Sujoy Ghosh. Aladin became her debut film in Bollywood where she acted opposite Riteish Deshmukh. The film didn’t perform well but she managed to win IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female.
Her next appearance in Hindi film was with Milap Zaveri’s romantic comedy Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai in 2010. She again appeared opposite Riteish Deshmukh in this film. This film also didn’t perform well and she received poor reviews on her performance.
Her first commercial success was Mahesh Bhatt’s Murder 2. She appeared opposite Emraan Hashmi in this film and was praised by many critics for her performance. In 2014, she appeared in Sajid Nadiadwala’s directorial debut film Kick opposite Salman Khan. The film was a remake of a Telugu film of the same name and it became highest-grossing Indian films till the time.
